Prayer for My Children: Your children are God’s property in your custody. He would have you raise them to know and follow Him. One of the greatest things you can do for them to help pattern their hearts and ways towards the Lord is to pray for them.

The importance of Prayer in our lives and for our children

Most people don’t realize how important it is to pray for their children. As a parent of three kids, I know that the decisions they make today will affect the rest of their lives. And unfortunately, many of these choices will be made when I’m not around!

Another reason why your children would need your prayers to help them is that they have limited experiences. What they would face in life is only known to God, and when He is called upon to help them, He knows exactly how to do that, applying it directly within the ambiance of their destinies. 

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6).

Guide them the best way you can, then support your efforts with prayer. In your guidance, give them a template that will establish them in the Lord and focus their attention on trusting Him.

We need to be intentional about praying for our children. Prayer changes everything! If we take time out each day to pray for our children, asking God to help them make wise choices now and throughout life, we will see incredible results in their lives.

Prayer for My Children

Thanksgiving: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for my children. Thank You for making me a parent to my children as you have been to me.

Protection: I place my children into your hands, I pray that you protect them. I come against every plan and device of the enemies against their lives,

Holy Spirit: Dear Lord, send your Holy Spirit to lead, guide, and counsel my children every day of their lives.   May my children serve you faithfully, with the whole of their heart, and stay devoted to you all the days of his life. May they derive joy and comfort in your presence. Help them to grow in wisdom and stature, in grace and knowledge, in kindness, compassion, and love.

The Fear of the Lord: Father, plant Your fear in the hearts of my children. Let them know you personally and serve you all their lives. May they never yield to peer and societal pressures to rebel against You in Jesus’ name. Lead them along eternal highways and continue to be a light unto their path.

“And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord, and great shall be the peace of thy children” (Isaiah 54:13).

A Hitch-free Sail through Life: Life is a journey, may my children sail through unharmed. May they never be victims of circumstances. May they be guided by Your Spirit and never get lost in the crowd in Jesus’ name.

“And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left” (Isaiah 30:21).

Spirit of Excellence: Father, an excellent spirit in all good things is the portion of all my children in Jesus’ name.  May they always be the head and never the tail, everything they lay their hands on shall prosper. They shall be examples worth emulation in Jesus’ name.

“And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm” (Daniel 1:20)

“Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes because an excellent spirit was in him, and the king thought to set him over the whole realm” (Daniel 6:3).

Divine Direction: Father, in all decisions in life, my children shall choose rightly in Jesus’ name. In all their relationships, careers, habitations, and endeavors, direct their paths in Jesus name. Let them find their bearings in Your word in Jesus’ name.

“Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word” (Psalm 119:9).

Grace to Keep My Parental Duties: Father, give me all the abilities I need to be the parent I should be to my children in Jesus name. I am human and so I can only give my children what I know, but they surely need more than what I know that is why I place them into hands to continue to help than sail through life.

Appreciation: Thank You for answered prayers. In Jesus’ name, I have prayed. Amen!
